This event can only happen because the park has judged that it will not have a negative impact on the park's natural environment and the ability of the general public to enjoy the park. The future of the event depends on you.
- Failure to abide by these rules or the directions of race or park officials may result in your disqualification.
- The 100 km and the 50 km are separate and distinct races. Runners are only included in the race results of the race that they enter. Runners are not allowed to change races on Race Day.
- Runners are not officially entered in the race until they are wearing their Timing Chip (ankle strap). Timing Chips are provided race morning.
- Race numbers must be visible on the outside and front of runner’s clothing at all times. Report your number each time through the Serengeti aid station midway on the course.
- The 100 km race closes at 8:15 p.m. (14 hours) with an 87.5 km cut-off at 6:15 p.m. (12 hours) unless the 7th lap was run faster than the time remaining.
- Avoid running abreast on the lake trails. Running single file on the lake trails will help ensure that hikers will not be disturbed.
- The trails will be open to the general public. Please give a courteous and audible signal of your intention to pass hikers on the trails.
- Please do not try to solve a problem by yelling, swearing, or pushing. Race entrants do not have a right-of-way over the general public on the trails. Be kind to pedestrians, dogs, volunteers, and park officials. Report disturbances and any concerns to an aid station or race official.
- Swimming is only allowed in the designated swim area at the beach. Entering the water anywhere else will result in disqualification.
- Stay on trail.
- No littering. This is not a road race. A limited amount of cups will be available. The ultra marathoner is expected to carry fluids, especially at a summer competition. Beverage coolers and pitchers of cold HEED & water will be at the aid stations, and aid attendants will assist with filling bottles. Trash cans will be positioned at the aid stations.
- No Muling. Crews should not provide food & drink to their runners out on the course. Please limit crew aid to the beach area and main aid station. This provides a level playing field for those without crew.
- Run unassisted. No running with dogs, trekking poles or strollers.
- Timing Chips must be returned. Lost or non-returned Timing Chips will be billed at $90. Generally this only happens when a runner exits a race and goes home without notifying race officials.
- Please, runners that decide not to finish should notify an aid station or race official to return the Timing Chip and prevent unnecessary search and rescue.
